Pros: 1. Huge display with fantastic picture. 2. Offers wide viewing angle. 3. Fast. 4. Sturdy stand. Cons: None. Overall Review: 1. Back panel USB / Headset hook are only useable if you have access to the back of course. not easy to reach over from the front. 2. Perhaps a higher res panel would have been good, but I think Samsung nailed this generation’s tech perfectly for speed and picture. It is better than I thought it would be. 3. It is very easy to reduce font size, zoom out, etc, to make use of the large screen in browsers, etc, with a large 1080 screen. With other panels offering higher res you often make fonts larger, zoom in, so it is essentially the same practice. Clearly it lacks pixels, but you wanted that for speed, right? Yup! 4. I replaced my 3x 1920×1200 (5760×1200) eyefinity rig with this and immediately realized I did the right thing. 5. The other option was to go 3x 2k or 4k monitors and buy two or three top end GPUs, I just got tired of bezels, complexity, and cost. 6. “Big” wide screen is great. 7. I use two Asus R9 Fury Strix (Crossfire). Apparently these received HDR support last year from AMD. Fully supported DisplayPort version 1.2a (older DP versions don’t support HDR) @ 10bit, 120hz refresh rate (on a 1080p screen). If my GPU’s were newer I’d get DP version 1.4, and the 144hz from this monitor. 8. I thought I was having displayport problems, but it seems HDR isn’t a perfect science yet… Everything works great in games and movies, but Windows desktop is washed out. This is a common complaint for Windows 10 users and not related to the monitor. In Windows 10 it’s easy to turn off HDR in Display Properties, but you might just get used to it or tweak the monitor presets. 9. The monitor came with firmware version 1003, and 1008 is available from Samsung’s product page.
Pros: This monitor is gorgeous, truly a game changing experience and would recommend over any 4K display at a traditional 27″ size. Cons: Out of the box issue with a pixel getting stuck on a bright lime green color dead center in the screen. It may sound petty, but it does not fail to stare you in the face under any scene that is dark or black. This isn’t acceptable when considering the premium paid for this product, and the fact that none of my older monitors or TV’s exhibited this. There was also some minor light bleed from the top center edge of the screen, also noticeable under black or dark settings Overall Review: I 100% recommend this product, because there’s not much out there like this. But be prepared to look out for these defects and process a replacement ASAP. I suppose this comes with the territory of early adopting technology.
Overall Review: I have had no issues with this monitor. This is coming from someone who despises Samsung…I have a 4k TV from Samsung and I have always regretted the purchase. I was VERY skeptical and did a lot of research before buying this, especially considering the cost. I was surprised at how wonderful it has been so far. The limitations of the monitor are usually only due to the GPU or the settings you’ve set up. The menu interface on the monitor is intuitive and straightforward. I have live wallpaper set up and it’s a beautiful sight and very relaxing after a long day of work. The only “con” I would say, is that the mount doesn’t rise very far. Other than that it really is a spectacular sight. I have been impressed and EXTREMELY relieved considering the financial investment. I’ve done a bit of gaming on it and also have no complaints there. I have no doubt that some of these ship with some faulty hardware, and that would be an insane letdown…I feel for those who’ve been that unfortunate. The only problem I have with the purchase itself was the late shipping, courtesy of UPS. But it is that time of year, so I just let it go. If you are considering this product, I’d order it from a good vendor and just hope for the best that you don’t get one that has a defective part. It really is pretty spectacular.
